Line Of Defense

Recently, my gf called me on one of the night telling me that her house got a blackout. My first reaction was to ask if the blackout was only happening to her unit or to the rest of the households. After a bit of story telling, I got the full picture of the situation.

Apparently, she had a faulty multi-purpose plug, which blowed its own brain out, when she tried to on her computer. The good thing is, she hasn't on her computer yet. She merely switched on electrical power and "Pak!", a spark and the whole house went black. This was of course, followed by a very burnt smell.

Well, like what any normal people would do, she just tried to get the electricity back in the house by going for the circuit breaker. Ha, but you guessed it, that din work, which was why she called me and the conclusion after that was, I had no idea too *shrug*. It seemed like my gf and her aunt were gonna had a painful nite of slumber. I was toying with the idea of going to fetch her over my house for the nite, but I seriously doubt my house could host her aunt comfortably. My gf definitely wouldnt wanna leave her alone in the dark too.

Ha! As in all stories, the angel came to the rescue. The angel was none other than my Mum, who had some basic knowledge of electrical stuff after spending her years working in Ngee Ann Poly *Note that she can build her own radio!! Not bad for a lady that only had sec education!!!" After relating all the stuff above to her, she told me one thing, the switch outside the circuit board might have auto switched off after the trip.

I was liked, "Oh? There is a switch there?????" I know I got this box out there, but what I din realise is there is a switch that control the electricity in the whole house in that box.



After checking with my gf, she found her's both at off position and it didnt take long for her to get the power back on.

Now, this is the thing I realise. WHY IS SOMETHING SO IMPORTANT OUTSIDE OUR HOUSE? A house is our castle, our protection, our line of defense! Any perpetrator who has intentions of attacking any family, can simply create a decoy by shutting down the power in the house using the switches. Thereafter, he can wait at one corner until someone from the house opens his/her door to come out and get the problem fix.

The door is opened, the victim is unaware. Anything goes. Anything can happen. Time to strike.
This is machiam like making an attack on a fortress defended with a strong gate, but you know what? ITS DAMN POWER SUPPLY IS OUTSIDE THE GATE!!!! WAH KAOZ!!!! That is dumb. The above can be one of the scenerio, I wont elaborate on others, U can use your imagination.

Fortunately, there is a latch for us to lock it up. However, we cant use very strong locks because the holes are too small. This meant that there is only how much you can do. Then again, pls get them locked up, for your safely.
