Financial Advisor

I m not one. Never was, Never am and Never Will be.

I m always very afraid of buying policies from these ppl. Not becuz I dun trust the policies, its more of a fear factor that arise from the fact that I cant see the career plans of the person selling the product.

I got my very first policy off an agent on one road show. Not long after, the agent quitted, got married, even changed her hp no. My policy became what they call an ophan policy. The agent that took over contacted me after quite a while and it turns out that she wanted to sell me more policies -_-||| Well, communications were sparsed between us after I sorta convinced her that I couldnt afford any at that stage of my life.

Well, I couldnt blame them could I?
They are ppl that needs an income, have performance target to meet and definitely need to support themself and their family. Could I blame them if they need to move on with their life to something else? Could I expect them to stay at what they are doing becuz I got a policy from them? I guess if anyone is in their shoes, you wouldnt or shouldnt expect this from them.

I met someone recently that changed my perception of a financial advisor. Although I am far from knowing who he is indepth, but business wise, he has been very very professional. He educates me on my policies to the fullest, gives me advice on both my personal finances as well as my investments.

From him, I realise that one gotta really know what he/she is buying before he/she buys one. Sounds simple and common sensical isnt it? Unfortunately, a lot of ppl doesnt understand this. They sucumb after multiple sessions with the agent. They dread meeting them and wanna get it over and done with. The outcome? A policy was signed & they dun even know much abt wat they had just bought. When the agent leaves, the policy holder is now at a loss. They keep paying and paying with the only knowledge that they are "covered".

Long story short, to determine if u wanna buy from them or not:
1) If u know the agent, make sure u got an idea of his/her future plan. Will he/she continues in the industry for long?
2) Educate yourself abt the policy and know whether u need it at this pt of time.
3) NEVER NEVER buy anything becuz u are tired of meeting the agent or tired of agent constantly trying to promote the product.

Just my 2cents of opinion.
